Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Facility Inpatient Coder with at least three years of experience to review hospital records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes to ensure proper reimbursement and compliant reporting.

The role covers inpatient and observation coding, including same-day surgery procedures, injections, and infusions. Strong communication and adherence to guidelines are essential for maintaining data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of inpatient facility coding experience.
• Experience coding inpatient observations.
• Experience with facility-based SDS (same day surgery) coding for surgical procedures.
• Experience coding injections and infusions.
• Strong understanding of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and applicable outpatient coding guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Apply appropriate coding classification standards and guidelines to medical record documentation for accurate coding.
• Submit necessary provider queries to resolve documentation discrepancies.
• Perform quality assessment of records, including verification of medical record documentation.
• Responsible for researching errors or missing documentation from medical records to provide accurate coding processes.
• Abstracts and assigns the appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for all diagnoses and procedures performed in the outpatient and inpatient settings as applicable.
