Job summary

The role requires CCS or CIC certification, minimum high school, 1 year of hospital coding, and familiarity with medical terminology; preferred an associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.

Qualifications

• High School / GED required.
• 1 year in hospital coding experience required.
• CCS or CIC certification required.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry and computer skills required.
• Preferred: Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical information to determine ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements to satisfy statistical requests and enter coded information into the designated system.
• Ensure efficient management of medical information and cash flow related to unbilled coding reports.
• Stay informed of ICD guideline changes by training and coding clinics and implement updates in daily work.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Education

High School / GED

1 year in Hospital coding

CCS or CIC certification

Familiarity with medical terminology
