Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Records coder to review and abstract medical data, applying ICD coding rules accurately. You will enter data into the hospital system and support cash flow related to unbilled coding reports. The role requires adherence to HIPAA and privacy standards.

Qualifications

  • High School or GED required.
  • One year hospital coding experience.
  • Completed coding courses in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
  • CCS or CIC certification required.
  • Familiar with medical terminology and data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and interprets medical information to determine ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
  • Abstracts data elements and enters coded information into the designated system.
  • Manages medical information and cash flow related to unbilled coding reports.
  • Keeps updated on ICD guideline changes through training and resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
