Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Hospital Coder to perform thorough medical record review, interpret diagnoses, and assign ICD codes to support accurate billing and timely cash flow.

Requirements include at least 1 year of hospital coding, CCS or CIC certification, and coursework in anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. A preferred associate degree in Health Information Management or related field. Sign-on bonus of $10,000 with a 2-year commitment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in hospital coding.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology courses.
• CCS or CIC certification required.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements for reporting and enter into designated system.
• Support unbilled coding reports to aid cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD guideline changes through training and resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
