Job summary

Qualification includes CAHIIM-accredited education or equivalent experience, plus 1 year inpatient coding or approved Houston Methodist programs and AHIMA credentials (RHIT/RHIA/CCS). Strong communication and EMR proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or higher in a CAHIIM accredited program or additional two years of experience in lieu of degree.
• One year of inpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist Coding Apprentice Program or Transition Program.
• Must have RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient encounters accurately using ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS per policy and guidelines.
• Query physicians to obtain/clarify diagnoses or procedures per process.
• Maintain high coding quality and productivity; ensure accurate abstraction in EHR/encoder.
• Collaborate with coding team and stakeholders to ensure compliance and quality.
