Job summary

University Hospitals Pain Management is seeking a Lead Coding Adviser to ensure accurate inpatient and outpatient coding aligned with Revenue Cycle policies. You will educate staff on coding rules and provide timely guidance to Coding Specialists, while leading reviews and improvements across the department.

Responsibilities include training, feedback on documentation practices, and ongoing education to maintain high data quality and regulatory compliance within UHHS Coding Department.

Qualifications

• Ensures accuracy and completeness of Revenue Cycle coding processes and workflows.
• Educates individuals on coding rules and regulations.
• Acts as lead coding adviser to Coding Specialists and answers educational questions in a timely manner.
• Maintains up-to-date credentials and knowledge of regulatory guidelines affecting UHHS coding.

Responsibilities

• Performs training and quality monitoring of new and established employees and students.
• Provides timely feedback on coding guidelines, documentation techniques and data quality improvements.
• Performs random coding quality reviews and delivers feedback and additional training as needed.
• Identifies opportunities for performance improvement and communicates to management.
• Supports understanding of CCs/MCCs, UHDDS guidelines, HACs and PSIs and their impact on reporting.
• Assists with analysis of case mix reports and other statistics.
• Researches coding errors to provide accurate guidance and supports continuous improvement initiatives.
• Performs targeted second level reviews and keeps current on regulatory changes.
