Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Supervisor Coding to oversee inpatient, hospital outpatient, and ambulatory visit coding, ensuring accurate application of CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS and HCPCS guidelines across the department.

The role manages daily operations, oversees staff performance, training, staffing levels, and workflow optimization while coordinating with physicians, IT, and Revenue Cycle partners to maximize reimbursement and maintain compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree; will consider 2 additional years of certified coding experience in lieu of degree.
• Six years of experience in applicable coding operations.
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS or CPC certification preferred.
• Extensive CPT/ICD-9/ICD-10-DX/ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRG, APR-DRG and APC knowledge.
• Strong leadership, communication and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily department operations, staffing, and coding quality.
• Monitor productivity and timeliness; ensure appropriate coverage.
• Provide education for physicians and revenue cycle staff.
• Develop and implement policies to maximize reimbursement while ensuring compliance.
• Train and mentor staff; participate in performance improvement activities.
