Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in a health information field or equivalent experience.
• One year of outpatient coding experience or completion of Houston Methodist Coding Apprentice Program.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and CPT coding guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS and CPT codes for outpatient encounters.
• Query physicians to clarify diagnoses or procedures when needed.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per policy and AHIMA guidelines.
