Job summary

Mosaic Life Care seeks an experienced Inpatient Coder II to code complex inpatient services using ICD-10-CM/PCS. This role queries physicians, resolves edits, and supports CDI and regulatory data accuracy. Education in HIM and 3+ years of inpatient coding are required, with CCS/RHIA/RHIT preferred.

Remote work is available for eligible states including Indiana. The department focuses on accuracy, collaboration, and coder development within a supportive health system.

Qualifications

• Must have coding education with knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology and anatomy, query guidelines - Required
• Associate's Degree - Health Information Management / Medical Records - Required OR Bachelor’s Degree - Health Information Management / Medical Records - Preferred
• 3+ years experience in HIM inpatient acute care coding - Required

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services including acute care, rehab, swing bed and LTACH
• Query providers regarding documentation to improve accuracy
• Resolve intermediate coding edits and ensure regulatory compliance
• Mentor and train coders and ensure QA targets
• Collaborate with CDI, revenue, and quality teams to improve documentation and coding
