Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Coder II (Inpatient) for a fully remote role with flexible hours. You will review inpatient records, assign diagnoses and procedures, calculate MS-DRG, and ensure compliant reimbursement nationwide.

Required are inpatient coding experience, ICD-10-CM/PCS knowledge, and coding credentials. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits, with opportunities for professional growth within our HIMS Coding Department.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Completion or training in ICD-10 CM/PCS with documentation of 95% accuracy at interview.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information preferred.
• 2 years of inpatient coding in an acute hospital setting required.
• AHIMA or AAPC coding credentials (CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC) upon hire required.
• RHIT or RHIA credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets health record documentation to identify diagnoses and procedures for inpatient coding and DRG assignment.
• Calculates MS-DRG, Severity of Illness, and Risk of Mortality per coding guidelines and THR policies.
• Abstracts clinical data elements such as attending physician and other roles as per THR guidelines.
• Queries physicians when documentation is ambiguous to ensure accurate coding and compliance.
• Maintains coding proficiency and completes required THR training and credentials.
