Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare Corporate is seeking a qualified Inpatient Coder to join our Health Information Management team. You will review and code inpatient medical records, applying ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS procedures as applicable to the transition to ICD-10.

Primary responsibility is inpatient coding. Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, an AHIMA coding certificate preferred, and at least 1 year of hospital coding experience; RHIA/RHIT or CPC family

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AHIMA-accredited coding certificate preferred.
• 1 year hospital coding experience required.
• Experience in multi-hospital organizations and remote coding preferred.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCA/CPC/CPC-A/CPC-H certs required or AHIMA certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and code inpatient documentation to assign ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, ICD-10-PCS procedures, and ensure correct sequencing.
• Primary responsibility is inpatient coding for hospital records.

Responsibilities

Reviews, analyzes, and codes documentation for hospital inpatient medical records to select and sequence the appropriate ICD-9-CM diagnosis, ICD-9-CM procedure codes, ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS as applicable to the transition to ICD-10. Primary coding responsibility is Inpatient Coding.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
• Coding Certificate program (AHIMA accredited) Preferred

Work Experience

• 1 year of hospital coding experience Required
• Experience in coding at a multi-hospital organization and remote coding experience Preferred
