Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to join our inpatient team. This role supports direct patient care and assists with unit coordination for stable patients.

The incumbent will help with activities of daily living, documentation in the electronic medical record, and adherence to hospital policies. Training, CPR, and clearances are required, with opportunity to grow in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Preferred: Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program with at least one clinical rotation.
• CPR certification and background/clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, oxygen, early mobilization and ambulation protocols.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and promotes safety and cleanliness.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I/O, and treatments and reports changes to nursing staff.
• Supports unit activities such as stocking supplies and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
