Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services is seeking a Special Education Teacher to lead instructional planning for elementary students with IEPs in our learning center and classroom settings. You will design engaging, personalized lessons using innovative resources and technology to align with state standards.

The role requires delivering differentiated instruction, coordinating in co‑teaching teams, and continually monitoring student progress, while fostering PBIS and a supportive classroom climate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or related field.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining IL state SSE or learning behavior specialist (LBS1) credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
• Prior experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in alternative/special education or behavioral health settings.
• Experience with IEPs and compliance for students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbance or challenging behaviors.
• Experience and knowledge in working with students with IEPs and at-risk populations.
• Proven success in developing and implementing education plans for diverse learners.
• Strong motivational and coaching skills for student goal progress.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organization and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead instructional process for elementary students with IEPs.
• Design personalized learning experiences aligned with state standards.
• Deliver targeted instruction using diverse resources and software.
• Create detailed lesson plans and schedules for students.
• Collaborate in co‑teaching environments to meet IEP goals.
• Differentiate content to accommodate diverse learning needs.
• Track student progress and generate reports on achievements.
• Maintain safe, organized classroom and manage materials.
• Stay informed on best practices in special education and PBIS.
• Respond to feedback and pursue ongoing professional growth.
• Perform additional duties to support school success.
