Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services seeks a Special Education Teacher to lead instructional planning for elementary students with IEPs in the learning center and classroom settings. You will design personalized learning experiences, deliver targeted instruction, and use innovative curricula and software aligned with state standards.

You will manage IEPs and student progress, collaborate with staff, and adapt teaching methods to diverse learner needs while maintaining PBIS and a supportive classroom

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field of study.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL state SSE or learning behavior specialist (LBS1) credential.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
• Prior experience with curriculum development, differentiation and instruction; preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
• Prior experience and knowledge in special education services and compliance, particularly for students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbance and/or challenging behaviors.
• Prior experience and highly knowledgeable in working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's).
• Proven success in developing and implementing effective education plans for at-risk students with diverse needs.

Responsibilities

• Creating an inclusive, collaborative environment involving students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
• Establishing a respectful classroom climate with PBIS and positive group interactions.
• Implementing PBIS strategies, behavior expectations, and reward systems.
• Tracking and documenting student progress; maintaining accurate files and reports.
• Delivering differentiated instruction in co‑teaching settings to meet IEP goals.
• Adapting curricular content to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
• Utilizing varied instructional methods and educational software to support student needs.
• Managing student caseloads and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
• Preparing detailed daily lesson plans aligned to standards and student objectives.
• Maintaining an organized, safe, welcoming classroom and managing resources.
