Ombudsman Educational Services in Illinois seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead instructional planning for elementary students with IEPs, delivering targeted instruction in a learning center and classroom.
The ideal candidate holds a valid IL credential in special education, demonstrates PBIS and differentiation, develops engaging lessons, and collaborates with families and staff to support diverse learners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field.
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
- Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an IL state SSE or LBS1 credential.
- Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management training certification.
- Experience with curriculum development and differentiation in alternative/special education settings.
Responsibilities
- Creating an inclusive classroom environment involving students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Implementing PBIS strategies and appropriate consequences.
- Tracking and documenting student progress with reports on achievements.
- Delivering differentiated instruction and co‑teaching to meet IEP goals.
- Adapting curricular content to diverse learning needs and guiding staff on differentiation methods.
- Developing detailed daily lesson plans aligned with standards.
