Qualifications

• Massachusetts Elementary Education licensure (Grades 1-6)
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate licensure
• Master’s Degree with content-area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
• Plans a program of study that meets students’ needs, interests and abilities.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Guides learning toward district curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives for lessons.
• Prepares for classes and shows evidence of preparation as required by contract.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media to meet student needs.
• Strives to implement district education philosophy and objectives.
• Assesses student progress and communicates with parents as needed.
• Maintains accurate records as required by policy and law.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist assistance when needed.
• Protects students and school property; follows safety guidelines.
• Follows district code of conduct and enforces classroom rules fairly.
• Plans and supervises paraprofessional assignments and writes evaluations.
• Maintains ongoing professional growth to satisfy district requirements and personal goals.
• Participates in teacher evaluation processes and contributes to professional decisions.
• Attends district meetings and supports staff communication and collaboration.
• Participates in school activities and contributes to the district’s programs.
• Contributes to budget, facilities, curriculum, and staff well-being discussions.
• Maintains and improves professional competence.

Education

Massachusetts licensure (Elementary, Grades 1-6)

Bachelor’s Degree with license

Master’s Degree with content license preferred
