Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in locations and times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student age and interests.
• Guides learning toward district curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units and projects.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation when required by the supervisor.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet student needs and location constraints.
• Implements the district’s philosophy of education and expected performance.
• Assesses student progress, provides reports, and communicates with parents as needed.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist assistance when needed.
• Protects students, equipment, and facilities, following safety rules.
• Follows SPS code of conduct and develops fair classroom rules.
• Plans and supervises paraprofessionals and provides written evaluations.
• Maintains ongoing professional growth per district requirements and personal goals.
• Engages in the teacher evaluation process and participates in meetings for collaboration.
• Attends school and district meetings to support communication and decision-making.
• Participates in district and building decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum and staff welfare.
• Contributes to professional development and grows with the district.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license
