Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an Aeromechanical Engineer II in Huntsville, AL to drive vehicle design from concept to production, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and presenting findings to stakeholders.

The role requires a Bachelors in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 2–5 years of design experience, with hands-on capabilities in SolidWorks, testing, and design documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
• 2-5 years' relevant experience in a technical/design capacity
• Competency in mechanical engineering processes and design/analysis tools; solving mechanics & kinematics problems; and thermodynamics problems
• Experience with designing machined, composite, injection-molded, sheet metal parts, wire assemblies and mechanical assemblies
• Experience with mechanical, lab, field, flight, and environmental testing
• Understanding of engineering configuration management processes
• Understanding of metallic, plastic and composite material properties
• Experience solving basic structural dynamics problems
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Understanding of industry design and documentation standards (GD&T, ASME, Change Control)

Responsibilities

• Performing all aspects of vehicle design from initial concept to production-ready design
• Resolve design challenges and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering groups
• Conduct informal and formal presentations
• Use engineering principles to assess deficiencies and impacts of changes
• Complete assigned tasks within project schedule and budget
• Other duties as assigned
