Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join the design team in Moorpark, CA. You will assist in developing UAV systems and subsystems, from concept to detailed design, including building and testing hardware.

Responsibilities include creating drawings, BOMs, and supporting manufacturing, with hands-on prototyping and thermo-mechanical analysis. The role emphasizes rapid iteration in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 0–2 years designing complex mechanical systems with hardware transition.
• Experience designing machined, composite, injection molded, sheet metal parts.
• Hands-on prototyping for lightweight robotic systems.
• Experience with thermo-mechanical constraints and design analyses.
• CS/engineering drawing proficiency per ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5.

Responsibilities

• Design structural, electro-mechanical, payload, and ground equipment systems.
• Create manufacturing drawings and BOMs; support design reviews.
• Plan engineering work with project managers; support suppliers.
• Prototype, test, and iterate hardware; use CAD/Simulation tools.
• Assist with tooling, fixtures, and documentation.
