Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join the design team advancing next-generation UAV systems and subsystems. You will contribute across concept to detailed design, build and test hardware, and support manufacturing and suppliers.

Responsibilities include designing structural and electro-mechanical components, performing thermal analyses, and creating manufacturing drawings and BOMs using industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of experience designing complex mechanical systems with hardware transition.
• Experience with machined parts, simple composite parts, plastic injection molded parts, sheet metal parts, wire assemblies, mechanical assemblies.
• Hands-on prototyping experience with lightweight miniature robotic systems or similar.
• Experience designing electro-mechanical systems with thermodynamic constraints.
• Proficiency with mechanical engineering processes and design/analysis tools including ASME Y14 standards.
• SolidWorks proficiency and MS Office usage.

Responsibilities

• Designs structural and electro-mechanical components, payloads, ground equipment, launching systems, flight control actuators integration, and thermal analysis.
• Uses CAD tools (SolidWorks), simulation tools (SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS), and rapid prototyping (3D printing).
• Develops manufacturing drawings and BOMs per industry drafting standards; supports design reviews and scheduling.
• Assists project managers with planning and scheduling of engineering work; supports manufacturing and suppliers with production of components and assemblies.
• Other duties as assigned
