Job summary

The Inn in Asheville, NC is seeking an Engineer I to perform basic repairs, maintenance, and operations of materials, supplies, and components. You will work on interior and exterior projects including plumbing, painting, carpentry, and HVAC preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities include organizing tools, following the preventive maintenance program, and ensuring safety and compliance with codes. Requires a high school diploma and experience with building systems; shift often 2pm–10:30pm,

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Basic knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or other trades preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to provide clear and concise directions and instructions.
• Previous experience with plumbing, electrical and/or other building mechanical systems required.
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
• Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in processing charges).
• Working knowledge of plant operations, plumbing codes, electrical codes, health codes, local mechanical codes, national and local fire codes, water treatment programs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate knowledge of correct maintenance procedures and use of equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of all Inn features, services and hours of operations; all room types and layouts.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer or Assistant Manager.
• Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments.
• Maintain timeliness and work schedule per the preventive maintenance program.
• Maintain par stock levels of standard fixtures and maintenance supplies.
• Perform plumbing service including operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property's kitchen equipment.
• Perform plant operations service including economical operation of maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
