Job summary

The Biltmore Company is hiring an Overnight Engineer II to support the Inn on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. You will perform repairs, maintenance, and preventative work across plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC, with an emphasis on guest service and operations during the 3rd shift, typically Friday through Monday, 10:30pm–6:00am.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; trade certification in carpentry, plumbing, electrical or other trade preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in commercial plant operations and mechanics, preferably in upscale hotel/resort settings.
• Demonstrated commitment to world-class guest service.
• Experience with carpentry, plumbing, and building mechanical systems; reading construction drawings/blueprints; math skills required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to give clear directions and interact professionally with staff and guests.
• Strong planning and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and adapt.
• Proactive, with good judgment; troubleshoot and solve problems.
• Keen attention to detail with focus on quality and service.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of correct maintenance procedures and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.
• Know Inn features, services, hours, room types and availability.
• Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities.
• Maintain par stock levels of fixtures, tools and standard supplies; communicate needs to supervisor.
• Understand and operate electrical, plumbing, and carpentry systems.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of the work area.
• Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces.
• Assist with special projects and room preventive maintenance.
• Ensure swimming pool is properly maintained; test water and equipment.
• Maintain proper use, cleaning and storage of tools and supplies.
• Install, maintain, replace or repair equipment, hardware, fixtures.
• Have knowledge of Estate activities and events; assist with guest services.
• Maintain guest relations and anticipate guest needs.
• Provide assistance and support for department leadership and the company.
