Job summary

The Inn at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC is seeking an Engineer I to assist in maintenance of interior and exterior systems. The role covers basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and HVAC preventative tasks, with shifts typically 2pm-10:30pm, Sunday through Thursday.

A high school diploma is required, plus basic trade knowledge and strong communication skills. Applicants should be prepared to work with safety codes, operate and maintain building systems, and support the engineering team in

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical or other trades.
  • Knowledge of basic safety and chemical handling procedures.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • Familiarity with plant operations and local codes.
  • Prior experience in building maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain maintenance procedures and equipment operation knowledge.
  • Know Inn features, services, hours, and room layouts.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized and safe.
  • Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer or Assistant Manager.
  • Organize materials, tools and equipment for daily tasks.
  • Support preventive maintenance and stock par levels.
  • Perform plumbing, electrical, or related building maintenance as needed.
  • Assist in plant operations and maintenance of plant equipment.
  • Follow departmental policies and service procedures.

## Inn Engineer I - Full TimeApplylocations: Biltmore Estatetime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: JR103308**Job Description**The starting pay range for this position begins at $17.85/hourResponsible for basic repairs, maintenance, upkeep, and operations of materials, supplies and components of The Inn. The Engineer I will be working on interior and exterior projects that include basic plumbing, painting, carpentry, and HVAC preventative maintenance. The Engineer I will assist in other areas of the Engineering department as assigned/needed, and will provide general assistance and support for the leadership, department, and company.**Schedule can vary, but is generally 2pm-10:30pm, Sunday - Thursday****Requirements:** 1. High school diploma. Additional certifications and/or training helpful. 2. Basic knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or other trades preferred. 3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to provide clear and concise directions and instructions. 4.. Previous experience with plumbing, electrical and/or other building mechanical systems required. 5. Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal. 6. Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in processing charges). 7. Working knowledge of: plant operations, plumbing codes, electrical codes, health codes, local mechanical codes, national and local fire codes, water treatment programs.**Essential Job Duties:**1. Maintain an accurate knowledge of correct maintenance procedures and use of equipment. 2. Maintain a thorough knowledge of: A. All Inn features, services and hours of operations. B. All room types, general layouts and locations. 3. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas. 4. Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer or Assistant Manager 5. Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments. 6. Maintain timeliness and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program. 7. Maintain par stock levels of standard fixtures and maintenance supplies. 8. Perform plumbing service including but not limited to, the operation, maintenance, repair or replacement of the property's kitchen equipment which includes. 9. Perform plant operations service, including but not limited to the economical operation of maintenance, repair or replacement of the property’s plant equipment and 10. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.**Physical Requirements:**1. Exert physical effort in transporting 50-75 pounds frequently. 2. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas. 3. Reach, bend, push, pull and lift. 4. Remain in stationary or ambulatory positions throughout work shift. 5. Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding. 6. Job involves working: under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold), outdoors and indoors, around fumes and odor hazards, around dust and mite hazards, around chemicals, and in areas of high noise levels. 7. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license
