Job summary

West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking a Corrections Program Specialist for Inmate Records at Pruntytown Correctional Center and Jail. The role supervises an Office Operations Associate and an Office Operations Assistant, coordinating transfer of legal files and detainers while ensuring accurate OIS entries and release eligibility.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience; substitution with graduate coursework

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in corrections, probation/parole, law enforcement, social work, recreation, religion or related behavioral or social science fields.
• Graduate coursework from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, corrections, social work or related behavioral or social science field may substitute for the required experience at the rate of fifteen (15) semester hours of training for every one (1) year of experience.
• Additional full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience described above may substitute for the required training at a rate of one (1) year of training for every thirty (30) semester hours of experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Inmate Records at Pruntytown Correctional Center and Jail.
• Manage transfer of legal files and detainers; follow up on pending charges.
• Update the Offender Information System (OIS) with pertinent information.
• Verify release eligibility to prevent release errors.
• Work a mandatory 8-hour security shift as needed.
