Job summary

Mercy South is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Oncology Infusion Center to deliver compassionate, specialized care in an outpatient setting. You will work with an oncology nursing team, physicians, pharmacists, and support staff to administer infusion therapies and monitor responses.

The role supports patients through treatment, offers education to families, maintains safety standards, and collaborates across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Previous experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before, during, and after infusion treatments.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration therapy, and other infusion medications.
• Monitor patients for treatment responses and adverse reactions.
• Access and maintain peripheral IVs, ports, and central lines.
• Collaborate with oncologists, APNs, pharmacists, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on medications, side effects, symptom management, and ongoing care needs.
• Review laboratory results and communicate significant findings to the care team.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the EHR.
• Maintain oncology treatment safety standards and infection prevention practices.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
