Job summary

Mercy South is seeking an RN for the Oncology Infusion Center to deliver infusion therapies in an outpatient setting. You will join a certified oncology nursing team, work with physicians, pharmacists, and support staff to provide high-quality care throughout the cancer treatment journey.

The role supports patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other infusions, with responsibilities that include administering treatments, monitoring responses, maintaining IV access, and educating

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, valid RN license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Previous oncology experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before, during, and after infusion treatments.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration therapy, and other infusion medications.
• Monitor patients closely for treatment responses and adverse reactions.
• Access and maintain peripheral IVs, ports, and central lines.
• Collaborate with oncologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on medications, side effects, symptom management, and ongoing care needs.
• Review laboratory results and communicate significant findings to the care team.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
• Maintain oncology treatment safety standards and infection prevention practices.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
