Job summary

Mercy South is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Oncology Infusion Center. This PRN, day-shift role at the David M. Sindelar Cancer Center in St. Louis focuses on providing compassionate, specialized infusion therapies in an outpatient setting.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team to assess and treat oncology patients, administer chemotherapy and other infusions, and educate patients and families on medications and care plans. This position emphasizes patient-centered care and safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current, valid RN license.
• CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients before, during, and after infusion treatments.
• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, hydration therapy, and other infusion medications.
• Monitor patients closely for treatment responses and adverse reactions.
• Access and maintain peripheral IVs, ports, and central lines.
• Collaborate with oncologists, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families on medications, side effects, symptom management, and ongoing care needs.
• Review laboratory results and communicate significant findings to the care team.
• Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
• Maintain oncology treatment safety standards and infection prevention practices.
• Provide compassionate support to patients and families throughout the treatment process.
