Job summary

Down East Community Hospital is seeking an Outpatient Scheduling Coordinator to efficiently schedule infusion patients and provide coverage for outpatient services, including registration and front desk support. The role includes education of patients and collaboration with physician offices to understand coverage and prerequisites.

Responsibilities include managing scheduling across departments, handling calls, verifying insurance, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Experience with various computer systems and typing.
• Knowledgeable in medical terminology and health insurance plans.
• Experience with daily operations of a business office and general office machines.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule Infusion and outpatient services, including Infusion, Imaging, Cardio Pulmonary, Nuclear Medicine, and Dietary departments.
• Answer and route all incoming calls; maintain switchboard and front desk duties.
• Prescreen outpatient services for third party coverage and assess medical necessity.
• Obtain insurance coverage and pre-certification numbers where applicable.
• Ensure compliance with POS policy and assist staff with coverage issues.
