Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Project Financial Advisor to support our Transportation and Infrastructure portfolio. You will partner with Project Managers to drive profitability, ensure financial compliance, and enhance forecasting accuracy across multiple projects.

The role requires 3–5 years in project accounting/finance, strong Excel and ERP skills (Oracle preferred), and experience with Power BI for reporting. Located in Tempe, AZ, this full-time position emphasizes collaboration and governance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Professional accounting or finance designation (CPA, CMA, ACCA, CGA, or equivalent) preferred.
3–5 years of project accounting, project finance, or related experience, preferably in engineering, construction, environmental, consulting, or professional services.
Strong understanding of project financial management, forecasting, budgeting, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
Experience supporting medium to large, complex project portfolios.
Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, variance analysis, and project performance reporting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
Experience using Power BI or similar reporting and data visualization tools preferred.
Demonstrated ability to interpret contract financial terms and assess project financial risk.
Proven ability to influence and build relationships with project teams, operational leaders, and finance partners.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Partner with Project Managers to support the financial success of projects.
Provide guidance on project setup, including budgets, WBS, billing methods, and rates.
Review project financial performance and identify risks and opportunities.
Support project forecasting, revenue recognition, and profitability management.
Analyze labor utilization, project costs, and margins to improve performance.
Advise teams on project funding, contract requirements, and financial controls.
Review project and contract structures for accuracy and compliance.
Monitor billing requirements and revenue recognition methods.
Prepare and review project forecasts, budgets, and financial projections.
Identify trends, risks, and opportunities impacting profitability.
Support working capital management, revenue accruals, and cash flow.
Provide financial reporting and commentary to project and finance leadership.
Monitor financial performance across multiple projects; present insights in reviews.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes and governance.
