Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an Infrastructure Lead to own and optimize ultra-low-latency network and data-center infrastructure for institutional trading. You will design routing, market-data architectures, and secure connectivity across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will lead incident response, drive observability, and mentor engineers while collaborating with SRE, Infra, Product, and trading teams to improve reliability and developer velocity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of network, infrastructure, or SRE engineering experience in latency-sensitive environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise with multicast networking, BGP, OSPF, VRFs, and high-availability architectures.
• Proven ability to lead live incident response for production trading systems and coordinate cross-functional resolution.
• Experience with Fortinet or Palo Alto firewalls, VPNs, SNMP or gRPC telemetry, and network automation.
• Familiarity with exchange or electronic trading concepts; deep crypto experience is a plus, not required.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.

Responsibilities

• Own, operate, and optimize ultra-low-latency networks and data-center infrastructure for institutional trading.
• Design and maintain routing, traffic-segmentation, and market-data architectures with BGP, OSPF, VRFs, and HA platforms.
• Deploy and operate firewalls and secure connectivity across Fortinet and Palo Alto environments.
• Drive observability, latency studies, and network automation using Python, Ansible, and related tools.
• Lead safe production changes, incident response, and on-call rotation for 24/7 trading systems.
• Mentor engineers and partner with SRE/Infra, Product, and trading teams to boost reliability.
