Job Description And Duties

THIS POSITION MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE. THE AMOUNT OF TELEWORK IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE DEPARTMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide the opportunity to build on your extensive programming experience with frequent exposure to managers and staff in the Information Technology Branch (ITB)? The Employment Development Department is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in our Product Development Division.

As an Information Technology (IT) Specialist I, you will provide strong technical leadership as a lead developer responsible for the implementation, maintenance and upgrade of the Current Employment Statistics (CES) automated system, Labor Market Information website, SQL databases, and other internally developed systems. You will perform complex technical analysis and configuration activities in support of highly critical transaction processing activities. An essential function of the job is the ability to provide root cause analysis of system issues, correctly identifying incidents or defects, and determining the most efficient and effective way to restore full functionality. Through work on service requests, initiatives, and projects, an ITS I is expected to learn the business processes each application supports and how the application functions.

The incumbent contributes toward the growth of the ITB into a customer-focused service organization by following Branch cultural principles and by providing constructive feedback to others within the Branch regarding the application of those principles.

This position is headquartered in Downtown Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
