Responsibilities
Advanced technical support: Serve as a senior resource for Navy information systems, networks, and communication infrastructure; troubleshoot complex issues and implement system upgrades to improve availability, performance, and security.
Diagnostics & maintenance: Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and lifecycle maintenance on hardware and software across workstations, servers, and network devices; ensure timely patching and configuration baselines.
Network infrastructure: Support the management and sustainment of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, and WAN/LAN components; assist with VLANs, routing, QoS, and monitoring tools.
Security operations: Assist in implementing network security measures (e.g., access controls, patch management, vulnerability remediation), support STIG compliance, and contribute to RMF documentation and Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) updates.
Server administration: Administer Windows and/or Linux server environments, Active Directory/Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper V), and backup/restore solutions.
Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, SOPs, and knowledge base articles; ensure configuration management and change control records are current.
Mentorship & collaboration: Mentor junior technicians, provide escalation support, and collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and application teams to drive system improvement initiatives.
Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline operations, enhance monitoring/alerting, and increase system resilience and compliance with Navy/DoD standards.
