Job summary

OmniSource is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain shredding equipment and related systems. You will focus on the auto shredder operation, ensuring uptime and safe, efficient performance.

The role requires strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical repairs, welding, and PLCs, with the ability to work independently and follow safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Proficient in schematics, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical blueprints, welding and fabrication.
• Ability to analyze issues, troubleshoot malfunctions, and find effective solutions.
• Prior experience maintaining industrial machinery, preferably shredders or similar heavy-duty equipment.
• Must operate maintenance vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Experience in three phase and single phase electrical repairs.
• Must be able to perform general electrical repairs.
• Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks to repair components as needed.
• Must be able to arc weld with stick and mig abilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical repairs without direct supervision.
• Must have working understanding of programmable logic controllers.
• Ability to thoroughly inspect equipment and identify potential problems before they become major issues.
• Commit to safety practices and follow safety regulations related to operating heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

• Inspect shredder components and lubricate moving parts.
• Perform scheduled maintenance per manufacturer guidelines.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
• React to emergency breakdowns.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and replace worn parts.
• Assist with installation of utilities and equipment.
• Follow lockout/tagout and safety protocols.
• All other duties as assigned.
