Job summary

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) in Portland, OR is seeking an Industrial Engineer to develop engineered labor standards for complex manufacturing processes and to optimize operations using LEAN thinking.

You will support new products and industrialization projects, perform time and motion studies, and help plan layouts for capacity and continuous improvement initiatives. Hybrid work arrangement with a strong focus on cross-functional collaboration enabled by DTNA’s team-oriented culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Manufacturing/Process/Mechanical Engineering or 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing, lean, and process optimization methods.
• Ability to interpret engineering diagrams and develop labor estimates/standards from designs.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with project teams to implement new projects and provide labor estimates from design concepts to production startup.
• Review new designs and generate engineered labor standards; suggest design changes to optimize install labor and ergonomics.
• Apply LEAN methods to plan new processes and work cells and optimize operations to reduce waste.
• Maintain and update existing labor standards and perform time and motion studies on complex tasks.
• Support development of standards, guidelines, and procedures for documenting labor standards.
• Provide engineering and economic analysis for facilities, workflows, methods, and processes; assist in capacity planning and make-buy studies.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing/warehouse layouts for new product introductions and capacity expansion.
