Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Portland, OR is seeking an Industrial Engineer to develop engineered labor standards and optimize manufacturing processes using LEAN principles.

You will support new products and industrialization projects, collaborating with project teams from concept through production startup. Strong quantitative skills and cross-functional teamwork are required; Portland-based role with hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Process or Mechanical Engineering, or 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, lean, process optimization methods and quality.
• Able to interpret engineering diagrams and develop labor estimates and/or standards based on design specifications.
• Strong cross functional communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be well organized and able to handle multiple tasks with DTNA management.

Responsibilities

• Work with project teams on labor estimates from design concepts to production startup.
• Review design concepts and generate engineered labor standards; suggest design changes for install labor and ergonomics.
• Apply LEAN methods to plan processes and optimize work cells, eliminating waste.
• Maintain and update existing labor standards.
• Perform time and motion studies on complex tasks using standard IE methods.
• Support development of standards and procedures for documenting labor standards.
• Provide analysis support for facilities, workflows, and capacity planning; assist with make-buy studies.
• Develop manufacturing/workplace layouts for new products and capacity expansion.
