Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC in Portland, OR is seeking an Industrial Engineering professional to develop engineered labor standards and optimize manufacturing processes using LEAN methods. The role focuses on labor estimation from design concepts through production startup, with opportunities to impact ergonomic improvements and process design.

The candidate will review concepts, maintain labor standards, and perform time-and-motion studies while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Process or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical education.
• 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, lean, process optimization methods and quality.
• Able to interpret engineering diagrams and develop labor estimates and/or standards based on design specifications and existing manufacturing processes.
• Strong cross functional communication and collaboration skills.
• Must be well organized and able to handle multiple, detailed tasks.

Responsibilities

• Work with project teams responsible for implementing new projects and providing labor estimates through all project phases.
• Review design concepts and generate engineered labor standards; recommend design changes to optimize install labor and ergonomics.
• Apply LEAN methods to plan new processes and work cells, and optimize existing operations to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
• Maintain and update existing labor standards; perform time and motion studies on complex tasks.
• Develop strategies, standards, guidelines and procedures for documenting labor standards; provide engineering and cost analysis.
