Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking an Industrial Optimization Engineer I in Portland, OR, offering a hybrid schedule. You will develop engineered labor standards, optimize manufacturing processes, and apply LEAN methods to improve efficiency across projects from concept to production startup.

The role requires a degree in engineering or equivalent experience, strong analytical skills, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Process or Mechanical Engineering or 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated.
• Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing, lean, process optimization methods and quality.
• Able to interpret engineering diagrams and develop labor estimates and/or standards based on design specifications.

Responsibilities

• Work with project teams to implement new projects and provide labor estimates across design concepts to production startup.
• Review new design concepts and generate engineered labor standards.
• Apply LEAN methods to plan new processes and optimize existing operations to reduce waste and increase efficiencies.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing layouts for new product introductions and capacity expansion.
• Perform time and motion studies on complex tasks using standard Industrial Engineering methods.
