Job summary

UniFirst is seeking a Maintenance Technician I in Mesquite, TX. You will handle repairs, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, with a Monday–Friday core schedule and periodic overtime.

On-the-job training is provided to support career growth. You will work with boilers, mechanical/electrical systems, and safety procedures, and participate in safety checks, preventive maintenance, and logbook recordkeeping.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two-year technical degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
• Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment.
• Minimum 6 months’ work experience repairing industrial processing equipment.
• Lockout/Tagout experience is required.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read maintenance literature in English.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
• Overtime availability may be required.

Responsibilities

• Use hand/power tools, precision measurement tools, and electronic testing devices.
• Ensure safe operation of machinery, mechanical electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, operation manuals, and manufacturer instructions.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems using measurements and testing instruments.
• Perform boiler chemical and wastewater pre-treatment testing and adjust chemicals as needed.
• Conduct daily/weekly boiler safety checks and perform repairs as required.
• Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
• Perform location/system safety checks and address concerns.
• Inspect, clean, and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts.
