Job summary

Sonoco in West Chicago, IL is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician to support maximum plant reliability through proactive maintenance and root cause analysis. You will troubleshoot equipment and participate in the Maintenance Excellence process to minimize downtime.

The role covers mechanical, electrical, robotics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; you’ll document actions in CMMS and work with operations to raise asset care and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; trade or technical certification preferred.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
• Ability to read schematics for mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Experience with NFPA 70E safety standards.
• Proficiency with CMMS.
• Welding and machining skills as required by location.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, robotics, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems.
• Install/repair drives/motors; modify PLC programs as needed.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Document maintenance activities in CMMS.
• Collaborate with operations to ensure safety and reliability.
• Support continuous improvement and zero-failure initiatives.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
