Job summary

Sonoco, a global packaging leader, is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician (IMRT) in West Chicago, IL. You will support maximum plant reliability by proactive maintenance, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.

Training on 2nd shift will occur, with 3rd shift as core. Join a team focused on safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, preferably with vocational focus.
• Associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience: IMRT I–Sr levels with 4+ to 10+ years in similar roles.

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with safety policies and procedures.
• Perform tasks safely and set a standard for safe behavior.
• Proactively maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems/processes/equipment.
• Install/troubleshoot/maintain AC and DC drives/motors; troubleshoot PLC programs.
• Modify/write PLC programs as required by location.
• Safely perform shop work with machining equipment as required.
• Document all maintenance activity in CMMS to build asset history.
