Job summary

Sonoco is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Reliability Technician to support maximum plant reliability at our West Chicago facility. You will perform proactive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and robotic systems, and use CMMS to document work.

You will read schematics, modify PLCs when necessary, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong root-cause analysis, welding and machining skills as needed, and a commitment to safety and

Qualifications

Mechanically, electrically, hydraulically, and pneumatically trained
Able to read mechanical/electrical schematics and PLC logic
NFPA 70E electrical safety knowledge
Welding and machining skills may be required at some locations
Proactive maintenance and reliability mindset
Proficient with CMMS and standard Office tools

Responsibilities

Understand safety policies and perform tasks safely, setting a safety standard
Maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems
Install and troubleshoot AC/DC drives/motors
Troubleshoot PLC programs; modify/write PLC code as needed
Weld as required by location
Fabricate and install electrical, piping, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment
Perform shop work using lathes, drills, milling machines, etc.
Document all maintenance activities in CMMS to track asset history
Identify opportunities to improve inspections, lubrication, and hard-to-access areas
Work with operations to resolve abnormal equipment conditions and develop operator skills
Meet housekeeping and 5S standards across Maintenance areas
