Job summary

Global Cellulose Fibers in Columbus, MS is seeking a J3 General Mechanic Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance on complex process equipment. This hourly, full-time role follows a four-day, 10-hour shift pattern (Mon-Thu 7:00am–5:30pm, every fourth Friday 7:00am–3:30pm).

Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, formal mechanical training, and strong skills in bearings, pumps, belts, piping, welding, and troubleshooting, with safety as a core value.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Formal technical/trade school training in mechanical maintenance.
• Five+ years of verifiable industrial experience as a J3 General Mechanical Maintenance Technician.
• Multi-skilled maintenance experience.
• High standards for safety, quality, ethics, craftsmanship, and leadership.
• Skilled in maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment and processes.
• Able to work around hazardous chemicals with PPE and training.
• Flexible hours including weekends and shifts as needed.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Motivated to develop career skills.
• Pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 2–20 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

• Install, replace, and maintain tapered and straight bore bearings.
• Rig and set heavy equipment and machinery; align equipment and motors.
• Install and repair pumps, seals, drives, conveyors, and piping.
• Maintain hydraulic systems, steam turbines, and boiler feedwater pumps.
• Install and repair compressors, agitators, and mixers.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on critical equipment.
• Troubleshoot using drawings, diagrams and manuals.
