Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer in Upington, Northern Cape to optimize facility layouts, production flow and space utilization. You will lead CAD-based design and simulation analyses, collaborating with operations and safety teams to deliver efficient, safe layouts aligned with future expansion.

You will develop 2D/3D drawings, assess new equipment impacts, ensure regulatory compliance, and support implementation from conception to completion.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field with focus on Facilities Planning/Operations Management.
• 7+ years experience in industrial engineering with emphasis on facility layout, material handling, and operations flow optimization.
• Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools (AutoCAD, Arena/AnyLogic).
• Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, ergonomics, and safety standards.
• Experience with capacity planning and space utilization analyses.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience managing facility design projects from conception to implementation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing facility layouts and material flow to identify efficiency, safety, and ergonomic improvements.
• Design optimal layouts for production lines, warehouses, and logistics using CAD and simulation tools.
• Conduct capacity planning and space utilization studies for current and future needs.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance, and safety to gather requirements and gain buy-in.
• Produce detailed 2D/3D layout drawings, material flow diagrams, and process flow charts.
• Assess impact of new equipment/tech on layouts and implement modifications as needed.
• Ensure designs comply with building codes, safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Support implementation of layout changes, including relocation of equipment.
• Develop business cases and cost-benefit analyses for facility improvements.
