Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape seeks an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical infrastructure in a heavy-industry setting. You will lead maintenance, design and small projects, ensuring safety compliance and device reliability.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, at least five years' experience, strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control, PLCs and instrumentation, and familiarity with SA electrical codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as an Industrial Electrical Engineer or similar in manufacturing/heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems including power distribution, motor control, PLCs and instrumentation.
• Experience with electrical design software and project management tools is an advantage.
• Knowledge of South African electrical codes and safety regulations.
• Ability to lead and mentor maintenance staff and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment within the industrial facility.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure reliability and longevity of electrical assets.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues to minimize downtime.
• Lead or support small to medium electrical projects including scope, budgeting, and execution.
• Ensure electrical installations comply with safety standards and company policies.
• Prepare technical documentation including drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify improvements in electrical systems.
• Conduct safety audits and risk assessments related to electrical systems and procedures.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to staff and junior engineers.
• Stay updated with advancements in industrial electrical technology.
