Job summary

Insteel Industries is seeking an Electrical Technician to inspect, repair and optimize electrical and mechanical systems across manufacturing lines. You will diagnose issues using meters, oscilloscopes, and PLCs, read schematics, and implement improvements to reduce downtime.

The role requires extensive experience with 480V systems, strong safety knowledge, and collaboration with maintenance, operations, quality, and engineering teams to drive reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and control circuits.
• Experience with PLC programming and automation troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with VFDs, servo systems, industrial networks, and instrumentation.
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics and panel layouts.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.
• Install, test, and troubleshoot motors, drives, and distribution equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and prints; maintain technical docs.
• Troubleshoot and maintain industrial control systems including PLCs/HMIs and sensors.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, quality, and engineering to improve efficiency.
