Job summary

Insteel Industries, Inc is seeking a Mechanical Technician for our manufacturing plant in the United States. You will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial mechanical systems and components, fabricating parts during overhaul and performing routine maintenance to keep equipment within design specs.

You will fit bearings, align gears/shafts, and connect motors and belts, while following ALARA safety guidelines to minimize risk.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of industrial machinery maintenance experience.
• Broad technical training (high school plus apprenticeship) with basic shop math.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience in manufacturing; multi-craft preferred.
• CMMS experience preferred; equivalent education/experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain industrial automation machinery and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Fit bearings, align gears/shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings/belts.
• Troubleshoot components and diagnose system failures; basic electrical knowledge helpful.
• Operate safely with Lockout/Tagout and adhere to ALARA principles.
