Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking an automation engineer to perform routine design of control systems, including DCS/PLC/HMI/SIS. The role supports larger projects, leads smaller automation tasks, and provides on-site startup assistance under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a background in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, with EIT/PE eligibility and at least 1 year of relevant experience in controls and automation.

Qualifications

• Understanding and implementing ISA S88 programming standards.
• Understanding IEC 61131 programming languages and standards.
• Familiarity with ISA S84 and OSHA 1910.119 for management of change and controls.
• Experience with two or more control systems (DCS/PLC/HMI/SIS) or extensive knowledge of major vendors.
• Ability to create installation documents from vendor drawings.
• Read PFDs, P&IDs, and instrumentation loop sheets.
• Strong MS Word/Excel/Outlook skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine design of automation assignments under supervision.
• Assist in design of larger, more complex automation projects.
• Provide on-site support during startup.
• Guide less experienced engineers in the department.
• Coordinate work with other staff and leaders.
• Develop control system installation specifications.
• Field data collection and validation of configurations.
