Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors in California seeks an automation engineer to perform routine design of less complex engineering assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods for DCS/PLC/HMI/SIS systems. With experience, assist in larger automation projects or lead smaller ones under general supervision.

The role involves on-site startup support, cross-team coordination, and the development of installation documents, cost studies, and conceptual layouts to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
• EIT registration is required; PE registration preferred upon eligibility.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant industrial experience in controls and automation engineering.
• Ability to read PFDs, P&IDs and instrument loop sheets.
• Understanding ISA S88, IEC 61131, ISA S84, and OSHA 1910.119.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine design of less complex engineering assignments for DCS/PLC/HMI/SIS systems.
• Lead smaller automation projects or assist in larger assignments under supervision.
• Produce control system installation specifications and design criteria.
• Coordinate work with staff and other office leaders; provide on-site startup support.
• Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies; ensure maintainability and client satisfaction.
• Review vendor drawings and gather field data for control system configuration.
