Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Coatings Inspector I to perform basic inspection of protective coating work under the direction of a CIP Level 2 or 3 inspector. This role includes verifying surface preparation, measuring film thickness, and documenting every step on tanks, structural steel, pipe, and concrete.

The position requires CIP Level 1 certification, 1+ years in coatings inspection, and willingness to work around blasting operations.

Qualifications

• AMPP CIP Level 1 certification is required.
• 1+ years in industrial coatings application or inspection.
• Comfortable working around blasting and spray operations.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record ambient conditions before and during application.
• Verify surface preparation to SSPC/NACE cleanliness and profile standard.
• Measure wet film and dry film thickness and check for holidays/defects.
• Verify coating materials, batch numbers, mixing, and pot life against data sheets.
• Keep the daily coating inspection log and photograph each stage.
