Job summary

Icon Boiler seeks a skilled Mechanic Level 2 to independently perform boiler repair, installation, pipe fitting, welding, refractory, and steam-system work at customer sites in Wilmington, NC. You will apply knowledge of boiler components, read basic drawings, and complete assigned scopes with limited supervision while mentoring junior teammates.

This on-site role requires travel, safety compliance, and precise documentation of service reports and parts; you will troubleshoot system issues,

Qualifications

• Two or more years in boiler/industrial mechanical work or equivalent.
• Ability to read mechanical and piping drawings and manuals.
• Welding capability or ability to pass tests per company code.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform routine boiler-repair and installation tasks per scope.
• Prepare boilers for inspection and assist with removal, fit-up, and repair.
• Conduct pipe fitting, brazing, soldering, and basic welding tasks.
• Support routine re-tubing, tube rolling, and hydrotest preparation.
• Maintain field records, service reports, and communicate issues to leadership.
• Assist Level 1 mechanics and helpers with safe work practices.
• Read drawings and trace control wiring, with attention to safety and quality.
• Travel to customer sites and work overtime as required.
